Research development

Thanks to the generous support of its donors, the HMR Foundation was able to invest:

• $1,700,000 in ophthalmology for the purchase of equipment and the expansion of research spaces;
• $500,000 in basic research on macular degeneration as part of Dr. Gilbert Bernier, PhD’s project investigating a promising avenue for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, a disease that causes 75% of all visual impairments in people over 65 years of age;
• $500,000 toward the research centre’s activities and to provide grants to students studying at the Master’s level.
