Electronic ticketing: putting an end to the wait

In the past few years, the HMR Oncology Centre has seen patients’ number jumps 20%.

Every day, between 20 and 40 patients had to wait, standing up, for up to 45 minutes before and after their medical visit. That was a very long wait, especially for sick and frail patients. To fix the situation, the HMR Foundation provided $19,500 to purchase an electronic ticketing system that provided a real-time view of patient waiting time. This made it possible for patient care staff to be assigned continuously throughout the day as needs changed. The benefits are clear: an increase in the number of patients treated, a calm setting where patients await their visit in comfort, and the total elimination of the waiting line.
