Breast cancer: helping women affected by “chemo brain”
Thanks to contributions of $350,000 from the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and $20,000 from the HMR Foundation, a promising pilot project was launched at HMR to help women with breast cancer who suffer cognitive difficulties linked to chemotherapy, a condition known as “chemo brain.” The project’s goal is to screen for, evaluate and treat the cognitive difficulties linked to cancer treatments, including stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety and fatigue. Using a multidimensional approach, the team at HMR seeks to improve the experience of cancer patients and their loved ones, all of whom suffer from the disease’s consequences, in order to lessen the repercussions of the treatment.
