Biofeedback project: treating urinary incontinence in children

When children are finally able to control their urination, it’s a big step toward independence.

A chronic incontinence problem can be a major burden and source of distress for the child. Bladder re-education treatment using biofeedback can yield a significant improvement in chronic symptoms. The treatment helps diminish psychological harm to the child as well as the repercussions on his or her family, much to the relief of all concerned. On April 6, 2016, for the fifth year in a row, Opération Enfant Soleil renewed its support for the HMR Foundation by donating $16,073 for biofeedback treatment of incontinence in HMR’s young patients. The Foundation supplemented that amount with $1,127 to meet the remainder of the project’s financial need.
