FHMR ScotiaBank Charity Challenge: $ 16,600 for HMR’s patients
15 June 2021
The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) Foundation wholeheartedly thanks all Virtual Scotiabank Charity Challenge participants and donors. You have raised an outstanding $ 16,603 for our patients!
A smart pedal exerciser for bedridden patients
François Quenot and his wife, Genevière Rioux
The amount raised, supplemented by the Together for the HMR Fund, will enable the hospital’s physiotherapy department to acquire a smart pedal exerciser.
This specialized equipment helps patients fight the muscle loss experienced during long stays in bed. Indeed, such forced immobilization is often the cause of muscle atrophy.
Thanks to this new equipment, patients, like François Quenot, will be able to more easily regain their full physical shape after a very long stay in hospital.
A successful virtual race!
From April 23 to June 14, 2021, close to fifty participants took up a twofold challenge:
- Run or walk the chosen distance.
- Invite their families, but also their friends and colleagues to encourage them by making a donation.
In total, more than 1,300 kilometres were travelled for the cause.

Congratulations to all of you for rising to the challenge and thank you for such a successful fundraiser! We are looking forward to seeing you again for the 6th edition of the FHMR Scotiabank Charity Challenge in 2022! Thank you for being a source of healing!
