The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation (FHMR) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Pierre Nelis as Board President. In this role, he will apply his leadership skills and inspiring vision to help the Foundation to continue to grow, thereby promoting excellence in patient care, research, and teaching at the HMR.

With expertise in business development, and marketing strategies and tactics, Pierre Nelis has worked at various companies in the engineering consulting sector, including Tecsult, as well as Noranda and Bristol Myers Squibb pharmaceuticals. His career path led him to Softimage, and then to Microsoft, where he managed the merger and launched an international project in the Advanced Technology division.

Since 1998, Pierre Nelis has been working in corporate management, acting as a business consultant to institutional and private investors, as well as entrepreneurs. Personally committed to various causes, Mr. Nelis has an in-depth understanding of philanthropy and the challenges of a hospital foundation.

A graduate of the Université Laval’s Collège des administrateurs (ASC, or certified company administrator) and of the McGill Executive Institute, he currently sits on several boards of directors, including AddÉnergie, Simactive, Fondation UQO, and Développement Économique Grand Saint-Jérôme. Since 2003, he has also served as the COO and Vice-Chair of the Board of Inno-Centre, Canada’s largest accelerator of innovative businesses.

Mr. Nelis is taking over from Jean Laurin, who was interim president for the past three years and who will stay on as Board Administrator in charge of the Foundation’s real estate and commercial files.
