One Step Closer to the Realization of our Dream to Help Cancer Patients

Great News! Minister of Health and Social Services Gaétan Barrette announced a 1.8-billion-dollar upgrade to renovate and expand the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, the first phase of which will be the Integrated Cancer Centre.

The project involves refurbishing the majority of the hospital’s buildings into two distinct hubs: health care services on one hand and research activities on the other. In addition to clinical facilities, the overall concept will include the Integrated Cancer Centre, as well as a knowledge centre, an ophthalmology centre and a research centre.

“Once it is complete, the projected work will provide CIUSSS users with a highly modern and user-friendly health care and teaching environment, in addition to bequeathing future generations with a state-of-the-art research centre that will help consolidate its scientific reputation worldwide,” indicated Minister Barrette.

As the spokesperson of the HMR Foundation J’appuie Dodo campaign, Dominique Michel was overjoyed to hear this announcement!

“In six years, together, we raised over $12M for the realization of this Centre, a warm patient care setting with state-of-the-art technology,” said Ms. Michel. “Mr. Barrette wanted to thank me personally for the HMR Foundation’s significant financial contribution to this project. I humbly redirect his words to all of our donors, to whom I extend my deepest gratitude for their support and generosity. So many people answered our call: friends from the entertainment world, the general public, members of the business community… Today, we have concrete proof that together we can really make things happen.”

As Dodo so eloquently said, “This brings us one step closer to the realization of our dream!”
