Walking for Research
4 November 2021
Marie-Hélène and her daugther.
Living with a rare cancer, a patient from the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) organized a walk to benefit the Together for the HMR Fund on October 2, 2021. She raised over $2,500. Congratulations!
But it’s not done yet, so continue to support her fundraising efforts by mentioning Marie-Hélène Asselin in the comments when you make your donation.
Only 28 Years Old and Already 14 Chemotherapy Treatments
In September 2020, Marie-Hélène Asselin was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. A long cycle of chemotherapy and surgery began, and her life turned upside down.
Today, her health is stable, and she organized a walk in Henri-Julien Park to give back to those who supported her throughout this ordeal. She wanted to donate to the HMR Foundation to enable researchers to find cures for rare diseases.
Walking for Research: A Feat in Itself!
Sixty people braved the rain to accompany Marie-Hélène for this walk that was so close to her heart. She was at the starting line for the first lap, which was an impressive feat for Marie-Hélène. “Those who have followed my journey over the past year, know that a ride in the park is already a big challenge for me!”
Friends, family and colleagues completed 180 laps, totalling 270 km of walking for the cause.
In addition to donating part of the money to the HMR Foundation, she also donated to the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
Thank you Marie-Hélène, you are helping to advance research!
You too can be a source of healing by organizing your own fundraising activity. A sports activity, homemade craft or bake sale, birthday, the possibilities are endless. Be creative! Help Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont patients today.
