Julie Perreault: A Battle, a Book and a Fundraiser

In November 2014, Julie Perreault received a diagnosis that changed her life as well as her family’s: She had acute leukemia. In May 2015, thanks to her sister’s compatibility, she was able to have a stem cell transplant at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR). Since then, she has been in remission and enjoying life to the fullest with her loved ones.

Following this great victory, Julie decided to write a book about her battle, her states of mind and especially, her optimism at having overcome the disease. The book is Mon ami Gérard. Her work is inspiring and a source of hope for anyone who is battling cancer.

Grateful for the exceptional care she received at the HMR thanks to devoted medical staff and to the support of her physician, Dr. Silvy Lachance, Julie decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of her book to the HMR cancer program. Her commitment and determination enabled her to raise $200.

The HMR Foundation is grateful for Julie’s initiative and for her invaluable support. Extraordinary stories like Julie Perreault’s are daily occurrences at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. Many thanks to this woman for her act of great generosity.
