Every one deserves the best chance to beat cancer.

You probably know that in June 2010, I was given the kind of news no one ever wants to hear. I never thought it could happen to me, but it did. It was colon cancer and I was going to need surgery and chemotherapy. The news hit hard. Luckily, the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont took great care of me right away. Throughout my ordeal, they were there to support me with dedication, kindness and empathy, right up to the day I was cured.

This year, I’m celebrating five years of remission! Imagine the relief and unbelievable joy I feel! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my cancer will remain a thing of the past. Other than that, my only other wish is to see all cancer patients derive strength from the same hope that kept me going. And I am committed to lending them my voice. That’s why, for over five years, I’ve been rallying everyone I know around building the HMR’s Integrated Cancer Centre, a single site where cancer patients will be able to benefit from warm, outstanding care and leading-edge technology. Believe me, that can make all the difference!

We’re already two thirds of the way there. Of the $12 million cost of the project, there’s only $4 million left to go! Knowing how generous you are and how much you love your hospital, I’d like you to do like me and contribute to the HMR Foundation.
You know as well as I do that our hospital is a little-known gem and that it deserves our community’s support. Today, the oncology team needs your support to continue offering the most advanced care with all the human warmth it has become famous for. Thank you for answering my appeal. Your goodness is one of the beautiful things in life. I hope I can count on you. And remember: you’ll always be able to count on me because I’ll always be there for you.

I’ve been there and I can tell you that what really matters is being cared for by attentive and dedicated people who have access to the best treatment options. By contributing to the Integrated Cancer Centre through a one-time or a monthly donation, this is what you’ll make possible for patients fighting cancer. Again, thank you!
