Proud to have put its expertise at the service of HMR patients and to help the hospital fight the pandemic, the Ingénia Technologies team poses in front of the air handling unit.

Ingénia Technologies has provided Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont with the necessary equipment to adapt part of its operating room to accommodate patients with COVID-19.

Isolating high-risk areas

In collaboration with the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, Ingénia Technologies designed and produced an air handling unit to transform part of the operating room into a negative pressure environment, capable of receiving patients affected by COVID-19.

In order to prevent the spread of the virus, it is essential to isolate potentially contaminated areas where patients are located from the rest of the hospital. To this end, an air handling unit, equipped with a highly efficient filtration system (HEPA) and an antimicrobial coating, was installed in the section of the operating room to be transformed into a negative pressure environment. While isolating the space, this installation, which has been operational since Wednesday, April 15, ensures that no contaminants are released outside.

A race against time

Under normal circumstances, the production cycle for this type of installation is 8 to 12 weeks. Given the urgency of the situation, Ingénia has shortened this period to less than a week.

To achieve this, the company activated all necessary resources and even transformed ventilators intended for the American market to adapt them to the Quebec voltage.

Beyond the value of the donation, Ingenia accomplished quite a feat to contribute to the fight we are all waging against COVID-19.Giuseppe Racanelli, CEO, Ingénia Technologies

Strength in unity

This accomplishment was also made possible thanks to the collaboration of many of the Hospital’s suppliers. We thank Siemens, Moteur Électrique Laval, Meca Contrôle, Normand Leboeuf, structural engineer at Norda Stelo and also to the entire team of Yoan Harvey, Operations and Maintenance Manager, Technical Services, at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’ÎIe-de-Montréal. Well done and thank you!
