The Claudine D’Amours Pavilion of the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Research Centre hosted a double celebration in support of multiple myeloma research. Some 60 guests gathered together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Défi Cyclo-myélome and the launch of Guy Ménard’s book entitled PARTI COURIR – Chroniques pandémiques, the proceeds of which will be donated to further the multiple myeloma research conducted at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.

A Decade of Pedalling for Research

On the tenth anniversary of the Défi Cyclo-myélome, founders Maryse Bouchard and Francine Ducas reflected on the origin of the popular cycling event. The two women told heartfelt anecdotes about the beginnings of the Défi Cyclo-myélome, which has now become a flagship event to raise awareness about multiple myeloma, a little-known and incurable cancer.

True mobilizing forces, over the years and in collaboration with the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation, the two women have raised nearly $600,000 in support of Dr. Richard LeBlanc and his team at the Université de Montréal Myeloma Canada Chair.

So many wonderful milestones marked in the presence of family, friends, partners, and researchers who gathered for the 10th edition of the Défi Cyclo-myélome. The challenge will start in the beautiful Brome-Missisquoi region this year!

Initially presented as social media posts, these short columns turned out to be real-life observations that were sometimes written with humour, sometimes with emotion, but always with unfailing truthfulness.

Proceeds from the sale of the delightful book will be donated to further the multiple myeloma research conducted at the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont.
