My Cancer Food fundraiser

In January 2017, Lindsay was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells. Here is her story.

“The day I was diagnosed was the worst day of my life! Although my journey has not been much different from that of many other cancer patients I’ve met along the way, I can tell you that it has changed my life.

I learned not to worry about the little things. I learned the trivial things we all worry about don’t matter; it’s the connections, the friendships that make us happy, genuinely happy!

I learned to appreciate EVERYTHING, to stop stressing about the little things that don’t matter. I learned to take care of myself, to eliminate bad food and to enjoy healthy meals. I learned to meditate and do yoga, and I learned how calming it can be. I learned to listen to my body. I learned that hair grows back. I learned that everyone goes through ups and downs in their lives. It was my turn to face a challenge, and I’ve come through it.

But I didn’t get through it alone. I had a great support team by my side the entire time. I am beyond grateful to my family, my small group of friends and the Instagram community I’ve built on My Cancer Food who looked after me, cooked for me, made me laugh and sent me positive vibes. They are forever my A-team, and I owe them my new life.

Cancer has made me stronger and even more resilient. I’ve learned to live my life and do what makes me happy because everything can change in a day.

My Cancer Food began in February 2017, after I was diagnosed with lymphoma. It was a journey that turned into a healthy life: green juices, physical activity, not worrying about the little things, taking it all in, and of course #NoBadDays. You can continue to follow my journey on My Cancer Food.

All your generous donations will support Dr. Isabelle Fleury’s research on Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I am forever grateful to Dr. Fleury and the entire oncology team of Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. Giving back is just a small gesture.

Thank you,

Lindsay
