Internationally renowned hematologist, researcher and clinician, Dr. Denis Claude Roy was awarded the highest distinction granted by the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux: The 2020 Persillier-Lachapelle Career Recognition Award.

Fostering Research for 30 Years

A leading authority in his field, Dr. Roy has devoted his talents and expertise to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont since 1990. His work has contributed significantly to the advancement of research, namely in:

  • Oncology;
  • Cellular therapy; and;
  • Gene therapy.

Dr. Roy’s unflagging pursuit of innovation and excellence has benefited HMR patients, making a difference in the life of thousands of cancer patients and their families.

It is thanks to the drive fuelling Dr. Denis Claude Roy and his teams that the Centre of Excellence for Cellular Therapy (CECT) has become the largest centre in Canada and a leader in the field. Today, this expertise is well known and recognized by researchers worldwide.

Finally, as tangible proof of the exceptional quality of the work and care provided by Dr. Roy and his teams, the Government of Quebec designated the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont as a Hematology-Oncology and Cellular Therapy University Institute in 2019.
