Trimbach: A Reputation That Extends Beyond France’s Borders

In Alsace for over three centuries, the Trimbach family is one of the finest French winemaking dynasties. It produces exceptional wines: Clos Sainte Hune and Cuvée Frédéric Emile. Nicknamed the “Romanée-Conti” or the “Montrachet” of Alsace, Clos Sainte Hune is considered to be the world’s finest dry Riesling.
Trimbach’s winemaking history dates back to 1626. It earned true international acclaim in 1898 when Frédéric Emile Trimbach was awarded the highest distinction at the International Wine Fair in Brussels. Twelve generations of passionate and rigorous winemakers have stood out for the quality and authenticity of their wines. Soon, the thirteenth generation will be taking on the challenge as well! Today, the winery’s reputation extends well beyond France’s borders!
Comprised of fifty hectares, the Trimbach estate is spread across nine villages, namely Bergheim, Hunawihr and Ribeauvillé. Sheltered from oceanic influences by the Vosges Mountains and exposed to the sun, the Ribeauvillé fault line boasts a rich type of soil composed of clay, limestone, sandstone and marl. These assets enable the four Alsace grape varieties to thrive: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat and Gewurztraminer.
